Changelog

v1.1.1

How the system evolves, who owns it, and how to propose a change. The version above is read straight from the token source — it's the version of the whole identity.

Versioning

MAJOR

A breaking change — a token removed or renamed, or a component API change.

MINOR

Additive — new tokens, scales, components, or pages. Safe to adopt.

PATCH

Fixes and copy — no structural change.

Contributing a change

  1. 1
    Edit the source

Change values in tokens/tokens.json (tokens) or add a component under src/components/ui.

  2. 2
    Regenerate

Run pnpm tokens (also runs on dev/build) to update the CSS, exports, and Figma file.

  3. 3
    Document it

Add the token to its foundations page, or the component to the ComponentLibrary. Docs render from the source, so they stay in sync.

  4. 4
    Open a PR

Bump $meta.version, add a changelog entry, and request review from a maintainer.

Principles

One source of truth

Every value comes from tokens/tokens.json. If it isn't a token, it isn't in the system yet.

Tokens before exceptions

Reach for a token first. A one-off is a signal the system has a gap — file it, don't fork it.

Accessible by default

Color pairings meet WCAG AA; every component ships keyboard-operable and labelled.

Quiet, on purpose

Additions earn their place. The system stays small enough to hold in your head.

Releases

v1.1.1
August 2026
Approved by James Sugrue (feedback triage)

Brand-book feedback pass — CEO + Chief Outsiders, selective absorb.

  • Renamed BPO pillar Workforce Management → Human Resources; reordered Principal Consultant with Consultant terms.
  • Primary logo lockup: ink #011E3E for Rys/descriptor (removed slate/gray); usage matrix for reverse vs coral-forward dark treatments; embroidery min 2″ (not 0.75″).
  • Restored mission language from uprys.com/about-us (dropped “good organizations”); voice expanded toward Grounded Guide with ICP-aware examples.
  • Messaging: client-benefit boilerplate, ICP beliefs, proof guidance.
  • Typography: rationale for keeping Fraunces + Hanken; Office/email fallbacks.
  • Imagery punch list + authentic-first principles; iconography filled vs stroke-only guidance.
  • Email signature muted lines use brand slate #4A5666; colors documented to match logo.
v1.1.0
June 2026
Approved by Brand Council

Interactive system pass — closes the v1.1 SOW scope.

  • Renamed brand tokens to the --uprys-* namespace.
  • Added a dark-mode toggle with the full inverted palette, and global reduced-motion support.
  • Added copy-to-clipboard (hex/RGB/HSL, font stacks, email) and a live WCAG contrast checker.
  • Added site-wide search (⌘K, Fuse.js) and a filterable terminology page.
  • Added logo variants (monochrome, reversed, icon mark, social avatar) + favicon.
  • Added the imagery art-direction studio, a full video section, and shoot-ready direction cards.
  • Component library now covers accent/disabled/loading/error states and focus/motion.
  • Reconciled with the v6 legacy guide: restored the business terminology (BPO, EOR, JAaM, Consultant Partner, the six focus areas), standard statements, and service-area iconography + caret bullet; retired the placeholder tagline in favor of “Elevating Organizations.”
v1.0.0
June 2026
Approved by Brand Council

First public version of the unified design system.

  • Migrated the site to Next.js (App Router) on Vercel.
  • Adopted Fraunces (display) + Hanken Grotesk (body) as the brand type.
  • Established tokens/tokens.json as the single source of truth, with a generator that emits CSS, Tailwind theme, JSON/SCSS, and a Figma-importable file.
  • Expanded foundations: full color scales, spacing, elevation, motion, radius, breakpoints, z-index.
  • Documented the full interactive component library and brand patterns.
  • Added the marketing layer: messaging, social templates, email signature, and a dynamic Open Graph image.
